The Elk of the Hiisi (Hiiden Hirvi in Finnish) is a mythological creature from Finnish national epic Kalevala. The Elk, a construct made of forest materials, was to be hunted down in order for the hero Lemminkäinen to win the hand of the daughter of Louhi, the witch of the North. He succeeded on his second attempt, but died later while performing another task.
Experimental animation very loosely tied to the tale of the Elk. I am sad to admit that the sound in this is a bit of a placeholder. I meant to record sounds in a snowy forest, but unfortunately this holiday season was snow-free in Southern Finland. I was looking for the dry, creaking snow you get when it’s sufficiently cold outside, but had to make do with wet leaves instead.
Drawing Lobster lauched!
Finally created an art-exclusive tumblr in an attempt to get organized:
Click on my face (or the link above) to check it out.
If you prefer your tumblrs without random reblogs and just want to see my creations, that’s the place to go.
One of Drawing Lobster’s perks will be its attempt at organized tags in a handy index, so its easy to check out my work in different media, as well as looking at entire sketchbooks or challenges.
I’ll still keep posting my personal creations on artropod as well, but I like having my work more accessible without the need to filter through reblogs.
At the moment it’s rather empty, but as I chip through my archives here on artropod it’ll fill up nicely in a jiffy.
Might as well reblog this here.
If you’ve ever felt a desire to see what I draw besides Leglob, here’s your chance.
